the house

Entering Locorò 1764 means stepping across the threshold of an ancient home, where time has been preserved rather than erased. A stone residence dating back to 1764, located in the heart of the historic center, restored to its essence through a respectful and contemporary renovation.

The exposed stone star-vaulted ceilings shape the spaces with strength and harmony, immediately conveying a feeling of protection. On the upper floor, barrel vaults naturally guide the flow toward more intimate rooms, while the cummersaroofs tell the authentic architectural story of Locorotondo. Every element is original. Every intervention has been carefully designed to enhance what was already there.

The beauty of Locorò 1764 arises from the meeting of material and light, of authentic surfaces and essential design. The carefully selected furnishings evoke the past without nostalgia: pieces discovered in antique markets and flea markets coexist with contemporary artworks created by Apulian artists. The result is a natural balance, infused with a bohemian and Mediterranean sensibility that makes the spaces warm, welcoming, and deeply reassuring.

The colors follow a precise narrative. Earth tones – terracotta, mustard, beige – envelop the spaces with depth. Sky tones emerge in the details: doors suspended between green and blue recall the open light of the South. The greens of the Mediterranean scrub and ancient olive trees return as a continuous thread that connects the home to the surrounding landscape. Original historic cement tiles coexist with handcrafted microcement, applied by local artisans: textured surfaces that tell the story of time and guide the light throughout the house.

As an interior designer, I imagined this home as a place capable of bringing back intimate sensations: precious memories and the scents of childhood, that deep feeling of being protected by a house that knows how to be a refuge. Here, everything expresses care and attention to detail.

Spread over two levels, the home accompanies guests along a natural and fluid path. On the first floor there is an elegant living area with lounge and dining space, a fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom, and a full bathroom. The second floor, more intimate, features two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a private sitting room. The bedrooms open onto panoramic balconies overlooking the central square that leads into the historic center, offering lively and authentic glimpses of village life. The vertical layout is marked by original internal staircases, an integral part of the home’s historic architecture. Because of its structure, Locorò 1764 is designed for guests who enjoy moving easily between levels and experiencing the house in its authentic form. A spacious and functional laundry room completes the layout of the spaces.

The panoramic terrace

Climbing further up from the second floor, you reach the panoramic terrace, one of the most evocative places in the residence. Beneath a bell tower, the view opens over the white rooftops and churches of Locorotondo, stretching to the horizon and revealing glimpses of the lush Valle d’Itria. A suspended, intimate space where time slows down and the light accompanies every moment of the day – until sunset, when it becomes the perfect place to share a glass of wine together.

Comfort that accompanies the experience

While preserving its historic soul, Locorò 1764 offers contemporary comforts designed to enhance the stay: air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, a dedicated laundry room, and lighting carefully designed to highlight the architecture and materials.
